Blackburn Rovers are lining up former Bolton Wanderers striker Craig Davies as the potential replacement for Rudy Gestede, reports the Lancashire Telegraph

Davies is a target for Blackburn Rovers

Gestede is looking increasingly likely to be heading for the exit at Ewood Park and will follow Tom Cairney, who left Rovers to join Championship rivals Fulham on Friday.

The Benin international has expressed his desire of playing in the Premier League but Blackburn have told Watford they will have to pay a lot more than the £5million they were prepared to offer.

Gary Bowyer had said that he would not be looking for a striker this summer unless Gestede or Jordan Rhodes left Rovers.

The Lancashire outfit are restricted to free transfers and loan signings as part of the terms of their transfer embargo.

Davies was released by Bolton at the end of the season and scored seven times for the Trotters during the campaign, but did suffer from persistent hamstring problems.

The former Wales international started his career at Manchester City before going on to have spells at Oxford, Verona, Wolves, Oldham, Stockport, Brighton, Yeovil, Port Vale, Chesterfield, Barnsley and Preston.
