According to French media outlet L’Equipe, Blackburn Rovers have entered discussions with French side Rennes about signing defender Dimitri Cavaré.

The 21-year-old is close to leaving Rennes, despite only joining them in the summer from RC Lens in a €3m deal.

The right back played over twenty times for Lens in the French second tier before teaming up with Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais.

He has only featured twice for Rennes this season and could be set to exit the Red and Blacks after just six months.

Blackburn Rovers have opened discussions about a possible switch from France to Ewood Park as they look to bolster their defence ahead of a possible relegation scrap.

The France under-20 international was suffering from an injury at the start of the season, which has hampered his progress somewhat but Cavaré will be hoping to get his career back on track at his next club.

Blackburn fans – would you sign Cavaré? What can he offer? Is he one for the future? Let us know in the comments below…
