Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert is looking to make an impact during his first January transfer window at Molineux by looking to sign Blackburn Rovers star man Ben Marshall, according to the Mirror.

The Scottish boss is looking for the 25-year-old midfielder to be first signing at Wolves, whom he worked with last season during his time at Ewood Park last season.

Marshall's current deal at Blackburn expires this summer having signed a four-year deal when he arrived in 2013, but Rovers won't allow him to go on the cheap and demand a fee in excess of £1 million if they're going to sell him.

The ex-Stoke and Leicester City player is the subject of interest from a number of Championship clubs but Paul Lambert looks to be the most keen.

However, Wolves' valuation of Ben Marshall is almost half of Blackburn Rovers' asking price.

He has made 23 appearances for the Lancashire-based side this season in what has been a disappointing campaign for the club, as they nervously sit 22nd in the Championship and one point adrift of safety.
