Millwall have experienced plenty of success in the 21st century such as a Millenium Stadium FA Cup final appearance in 2004 and a Wembley Semi Final appearance in 2013, along with a promotion from League One to the Championship. This team is my choice so some positions may be up for debate.

Is THIS the BEST Millwall XI of the 21st century?

PRESS NEXT PAGE BELOW TO SEE THE BEST MILLWALL XIGK: David Forde (2008 - )

Probably the most successful Millwall goalkeeper of the 21st century.

The Republic of Ireland international joined Millwall on the 5th June following his release from Cardiff City.

The Galway born keeper has kept his place as the clubs number one since then with only a brief spell out of the team when veteran Maik Taylor played for a few games.

LB: Kevin Muscat (2003 - 2005)

Muscat was the sort of player that opposition clubs would expect Millwall to play, given the reputation of the club.

He was renowned for being an aggressive player and sometimes that aggression would boil over to violence which is why he only made 53 appearances for the club.

Muscat spent a large period of time serving significant bans for overtly aggressive tackles during his time at Millwall, however, he wouldn't be in this team if he couldn't play a bit also.

He was the skipper of the 2004 FA Cup team that made the final and only missed out on the final due to injury.

CB: Darren Ward (2001 - 2005, 2010 - 2013)

The self confessed David Beckham lookalike has become a club hero.

He played an important part in the team that won promotion to the Championship in 2010 and has formed good partnerships with Matt Lawrence and Paul Robinson in his respective spells.

He was a hit with the fans too winning the Player of the Year award two years in a row 2004 and 2005 as voted for by season ticket holders and members.

CB: Paul Robinson (2001 - 2015)

'Robbo' as he was known by the fans was a club legend. Making 311 appearances after working his way up through the academy, he scored the winner for the Lions in the 2010 play off final to gain promotion at the hands of Swindon Town.

The committed centre back won fans over with his heart and desire for the club and the phrase giving 110% effort for the team couldn't be more fitting for such a loyal servant.

Many fans were sad to see Robbo leave in 2014 after being told by former manager Ian Holloway he had no future at the club, however for his contributions to the club he totally warrants his place.

RB: Matthew Lawrence (2000 - 2006)

Matty Lawrence was a big player for Millwall in the early 21st century. Although he played primarily as a centre back he can play at right back so thats where he is included.

He made 228 appearances for the club in his 6 years and as mentioned formed very reliable partnerships with both Darren Ward and Paul Robinson in his time.

He played at right back in his first season with the club where he was voted Player of the Season by the fans when Millwall were promoted into Division 1.

The defender also featured at along with Ward in the lions FA Cup run in 2004. However, he joined Lions rivals Palace straight after Millwall irritating many fans, but his overall contribution to the club in his 6 years justifies his inclusion.

RM: Steven Reid (1998 - 2003)

Even though Reid made his full lions debut before the 21st century, there can be little arguments about his inclusion in this Millwall team.

Making 139 appearances for the club scoring 18 goals, this product from the youth academy set the den alight during his time in South London, with his strong direct running and incredible long shooting ability landing him a £1.85 million move to Blackburn in July 2003.

CM: Tim Cahill (1998 - 2004)

Arguably the most high profile player to represent the Lions, Cahill made 217 appearances scoring 52 goals.

The most notable being the winner in the 2004 FA Cup Semi-Final against Sunderland to get through to the final against Manchester United where the Lions unfortunately lost 3 - 0.

The Australian impressed in the competition securing a move to Premier League side Everton for £1.5 million a fee many feel under valued his ability.

CM: Dennis Wise (2002 - 2005)

'Wisey' joined the lions in 2002 from Leicester and took charge as player manager in 2003.

He made 85 appearances for the club scoring 7 goals, but he will always be remembered for his management of the team when Millwall got to the FA Cup final in 2004 against United.

LM: Paul Ifill (1998 - 2005)

Another Key member of the 2004 FA Cup final team Ifill had a long and successful career at the Den making 238 appearances with 40 goals.

The Brighton born player was signed as a centre forward, however the club converted him into one of the best midfielders in the clubs history.

After 7 years with the London club, Ifill moved on to Sheffield United for £800,000.

ST: Neil Harris (1998 - 2004, 2007 - 2011)

What can be said about Neil 'Chopper' Harris.

The club's all time leading goalscorer with 125 goals in 380 appearances based over 2 spells with the club this man defines the word legend at Millwall.

The 5ft 11 frontman, signed from non-league Cambridge City for £30,000, sums up everything good about the club, his workman like attitude, commitment to the club and desire for success have all contributed to the well deserved respect amongst supporters.

It's testament to Neil that he would be brought back to the club for a second spell after being sold to a lower league club, it is also testament to his character that he has been involved with the club ever since his retirement.

First as the under-21 coach and now as interim manager, there is no doubting the high regard that this man is held in and there is little by way of arguments as to his inclusion in any best Millwall XI in history.

ST: Steve Morison (2009 - 2011, 2013 - 2014)

Partnering Chopper would have to be Morro for me. Another gem plucked from non league this time Stevenage Borough, Morison was a revelation in his first spell scoring 35 goals in 83 appearances.

The strong forward would lead the line for the lions and adding goals to his game made him the perfect forward, he was at the club when we achieved promotion in 2009 and played an important role scoring 23 goals in the successful campaign.

He didn't stop there in his first season in the Championship for the lions he weighed in with 17 goals in 43 games earning him a transfer to newly promoted Premier League side Norwich a deal that took all of 4 bids for him.

After things didn't quite work out for Norwich he was sold to Leeds in a deal to bring Bechio to Carrow road and this paved the way for Morison to return to the Lions, this time on loan.

However, things didn't go like they had for Harris during his second spell and Morison only managed 8 goals in 41 games leading to suggestions that he had lost it amongst fans. But, based on his first spell alone he has definitely warranted a place in this team.
