Championship outfit Aston Villa are set to rival Premier League clubs Crystal Palace and West Brom in the hunt for Leicester City winger Jeffery Schlupp, according to a report by the Guardian.
Schlupp has been the subject of intense transfer speculation since the summer with many clubs taking a keen interest in the Ghanaian international.
Schlupp’s stock rose last season as he played a vital role in Leicester City’s remarkable title win, the jet heeled wideman made 26 appearances for the Foxes last season, and put in some crucial battling performances during the run in to the title.
West Brom reportedly had a £12 million bid for the 24-year-old turned down in the summer but it is reported that The Baggies are likely to return with a new bid of around the same value, with Villa and Palace expected to match that offer.
January looks like it could be a very important month for the club with many ins and outs expected, as Bruce looks to place his own personal stamp on this squad that he has inherited.
If Villa could secure Schlupp’s signature then it would be a real statement of intent from the club, as they look set to make a push for the play-off places throughout the second half of the season.
Villa fans, what do you make to your chances of securing Schlupp? Is £12 million a good price? Let us know your thoughts!
