Aston Villa suffered yet another setback during Saturday evening’s Championship fixture, with the Villains going down 1-0 to local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers to leave Steve Bruce’s side without a victory since Boxing Day.

With each disappointing result it leave Villa with more of a mountain to climb if they are to close the gap on the top six and make the end of season play-offs.

Villa are currently 10 points adrift of Sheffield Wednesday in sixth and it looks a pretty desperate time for the West Midlands-based club right now, with January and the transfer window looking to be pivotal to their fortunes.

With Villa looking to add a couple more player before the window slams shut, Lee Clarke looks at a couple of additions who Villa should look to sign from Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Nathaniel Chalobah

The Chelsea youngster has featured for the first-team on occasions this season, although a loan move could still be on the cards for the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old could fill a massive void in the middle of the park for the Villains and his calming influence could help the team to stop conceding silly goals.

A move for Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury appears to have stalled, so a move for this youngster could be a wise move.

Kevin Stewart

The Liverpool man possesses versatility in abundance which can only bode well for any club who opts to make a loan move for the player.

Stewart can play as a central defender or central midfielder, whilst he is also competent at left-back too.

The 23-year-old would relish the chance to play some regular first-team football and the opportunity to play at such a big club in the Championship would surely be too good to turn down for Stewart.
