Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is keen to make a move on Barnsley midfielder Conor Hourihane, according to reports from HITC Sport via sources close to the club.

The Irishman’s contract expires at Oakwell in the summer, and has so far failed to agree a new deal at the Yorkshire club, alerting the likes of Celtic and Rangers who have declared an interest in the midfielder.

Steve Bruce, however, is hoping to pursue the signature of the 25-year old, who has scored 27 times in 109 games for the Tykes, who has netted 5 times in the league already this term from the heart of midfield.

Henri Lansbury is also another player on Villa’s radar, however Hourihane looks the much more viable option, with the likes of Watford and Derby County looking to land the 26-year old.

On the pitch, Villa sit 12th in the Championship table, whereas Barnsley sit 8th in the table, just 4 points off the playoff places.

So… What do you think Villa fans? Would you like to sign Hourihane? Barnsley fans…is he irreplaceable? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
