Aston Villa are set to complete the signing of Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury before the end of the week, according to reports from HITC.

The Reds are resigned to losing the 26-year old playmaker for an alleged fee of £3.5 million, rather than running the risk of letting him leave on a free when his contract expires at the end of the campaign.

News has now surfaced, however, that the Villans have had their offer accepted by Forest, and Lansbury is set to undergo a medical at Bodymoor Heath in the coming days.

The Reds are in turmoil at the moment under controversial owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi, as a takeover by American John-Jay Moores never seems to look like being completed, and losing their star player cannot be good for proceedings neither.

Aston Villa currently sit in 12th place in the Sky Bet Championship and are in desperate need of some fresh faces, to help revitalise their push for the top six spots.

Lansbury would certainly add an element of flair and creativity to the Villa attack, and if he can link up well with the Villa strikers, it could turn out to be an incredibly shrewd purchase.

So…What do you think Villa fans? How confident are you that you will now sign Lansbury? Forest fans…are you disappointed to be losing him? Leave all of your thoughts in the comments below!
