Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has confirmed the club are looking to bring in three or four new players before the end of the transfer window.

Xia took to his Twitter account to reassure fans the club were looking to improve their squad.

It was also confirmed the club are interested in seven or eight players, with the hope of recruiting four.

Xia took to his social media account to say: Working hard every day now. About 7-8 targets ongoing but if we could get 3done, then it's not bad result. If 4, would be great.”

The first signing Villa are expected to make is Nottingham Forest captain Henri Lansbury, who has been one of the more talked about players this window.

The Express and Star reported a £3m transfer fee was accepted for the midfielder, who is set to earn £40,000 per week.

Villa are also reportedly interested in Barnsley duo Conor Hourihane and James Bree, who Steve Bruce has been to watch in action.

Steve Bruce's side currently sit in 12th position in the Sky Bet Championship and will be looking to push on with a win against Midlands rival's Wolves on Saturday.
