Peterborough striker Britt Assombalonga has joined Nottingham Forest for a club record £5.5m fee on a five-year deal, Forest Owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has confirmed

The 21 year old scored over 30 goals in all competitions.

The Congolese striker, who broke The Posh's own transfer record last season after his move from Watford for around £1m, scored 33 goals in all competition in his only season at London Road, including scoring at Wembley as Peterborough won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy against Chesterfield.

The 21 year old, born in Zaire, is a product of the Watford youth system, but after only making four appearances for the Hornets, after loan spells at Wealdstone, Braintree and Southend, moved to Peterborough for regular first team football.

And after his prolific exploits, Assombalonga was subject to interest from clubs higher up the football league, and now Forest look set to make a statement of intent by securing the signature of the striker, who can also play out wide.

Assombalonga looks set to replace Simon Cox, who is being linked with fellow Championship side Reading for around £600k.
