As we nearly enter November, the January transfer window is getting closer and closer.

Managers are going to start assessing their squads with a view to buying and selling in the upcoming window.

Arsene Wenger's Arsenal side will be no different.

For years, they have flirted with the Premier League title but have fallen agonisingly short on a number of occasions.

Perhaps a bit of January recruitment might help stamp their authority on the Premier League this season, which has been blown wide open with Manchester City's recent loss of form, Tottenham and Chelsea's inconsistency and Arsenal and Liverpool's resurgence.

It is anyone's title and with fans growing increasingly frustrated with Arsene Wenger's "shortcomings", he might be forced into action this January.

The Championship is an interesting market to dip into. Players that tend to be thriving in the second tier are very often able to replicate that form in the top flight and are more adaptable than drafting in players from abroad.

Here are FOUR Championship stars who Arsene Wenger could consider to bolster his squad...

Ayoze Perez

Newcastle did extremely well to hold onto Ayoze Perez in the summer.

The 23-year-old had been a consistent performer for the Magpies in the Premier League and he is showing his class in the Championship too.

The former Spain under-21 international would be a good squad filler for Arsene Wenger to consider as he can play on the wing or up front.

Ronaldo Vieira

The superbly-named Ronaldo Vieira is enjoying a profitable breakthrough year at Leeds United and the big clubs will inevitably come sniffing around for him.

The Bissau-Guinean footballer has played eight league games for the Championship side this season and impressed with energetic midfield performances.

With a bit of nurturing and development, the 18-year-old could turn into a top class player one day so Arsenal should look to snap him up before someone else does.

Chancel Mbemba

Arsenal have a very good first choice centre back pairing in Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi but the back-up (Per Mertesacker and Gabriel) is substandard.

Chancel Mbemba is a 22-year-old option for Wenger to explore with European experience - from his time at Anderlecht - and Premier League experience under his belt.

Newcastle have a number of options at centre half so they might sell the DR Congo international to Arsenal (who were interested in him during the summer) for the right price.

Ryan Sessegnon

Ryan Sessegnons

Young Ryan Sessegnon has stolen the headlines this year after impressively stepping up to the first team.

After making his debut in the cup aged 16, Sessegnon has gone on to play 9 games for Fulham this year in all competitions.

The England under-17 left back became the first player to be born in the 2000's to score a goal in the Football League when he netted against Cardiff.
