Charlton Athletic have a long revered history laden with golden famous moments the fans will remember forever.

They have spent 8 seasons in the Premier League finishing as high as 7th and have helped create some of the most memorable moments in Premier League history.

Some poor management and a lack of investment saw them relegated to League One where they meandered for three seasons before Chris Powell led them to promotion as Champions.

Things were looking up for the Addicks and they finished an impressive 9th the following season but it all went wrong the following year. Powell was sacked and replaced by Jose Riga after a poor start and a good FA Cup run couldn't mask the poor league performance where they finished 18th.

Worst of all Roland Duchatelet took ownership of the club and it all went downhill with the club selling 16 players.

However, over the years, the club's fans have been lucky enough to see some top quality action, including some excellent goals.

Here, FLW writer Michael Hasan looks at THREE of the greatest goals of all time for the Addicks...

Claus Jensen v Arsenal - 2001

One of the greatest goals and results in Charlton's Premier League history. An astounding 4-2 win at Highbury in November 2001 was their finest performance of the season where they finished a slightly disappointing 14th.

After Thierry Henry had put Arsenal ahead inside 6 minutes, Charlton scored 4 goals in 18 minutes either side of halftime with Arsenal keeper Richard Wright scoring an own goal plus goals from Euell, Brown and an astounding one from Jensen.

After Johansson had robbed Vieira, Jensen curled a wonderful chip over the head of Wright drawing applause from both sets of fans. It was voted by fans as their second best Premier League goal of all time and you can see this for yourself around 1 minute into the video clip within this article.

Shaun Bartlett v Leicester - 2001

One of the greatest goals in Premier League history was scored by Shaun Bartlett in a 2-0 win over Leicester in the 2000/01 season. Charlton had an extremely good season finishing 9th and if it wasn't for their leaky defence they would have finished higher under Alan Curbishley.

It was there first season back after winning Division One and things looked rosy as Charlton brought in club record signing Jason Euell. In this game Andy Todd had given them a 1-0 lead before Bartlett collected Stuart's long pass and volleyed home brilliantly. It was voted Premier League goal of the season, it has been hard to find but skip to 1:19:58 to enjoy one of the best goals you will ever see.

Johann Gudmundsson v Cardiff

Even though it comes in a more difficult time for Charlton fans the goal was stunning and just edges Keven Lisbie's goal against Liverpool in his hat-trick.

Charlton were having a miserable season under the terrible ownership of Roland Duchatelet and they had already been through manager Bob Peeters. Guy Luzon took charge and stabilized them but it was mainly the goals of Igor Vetokele and Johann Berg Gudmundsson that kept them up with both scoring 11 goals each.

Here is Johann Gudmundsson's goal of the season for the Addicks from that season.
