Barnsley have enjoyed a slight upturn in results in recent weeks, with Adam Murray only being beaten once as their manager since taking over from Daniel Stendel who was dismissed after a poor run of results.

The Tykes have taken points off of the likes of West Brom, Swansea City and Bristol City in recent weeks which will be pleasing to see.

One player that has been key to their positive performances this season is Cauley Woodrow, with the former Fulham striker having six league goals to his name so far in this year's campaign.

In a recent interview (quotes sourced from The Star), Murray admitted that he is keen to see Woodrow break out of one particular bad habit that he has.

"That's what he does, he is a goalscorer, he's clinical in everything he does. We need to get him out of the habit of shooting from 50 yards that we will continue to work on.

"I thought it was one of his quieter games but you know that at any given time he is going to pop up and get you a goal."

Murray went on to reveal that there is a sense of frustration amongst the players over some of their results, with Barnsley having the better of the chances at times in recent games.

"It's frustrating because we're having opportunities or half-opportunities and we need a bit of a rub of the green. Things aren't just bouncing for us at the minute.

"There's a bit of frustration in terms of the goals conceded, but I think the fight and desire we showed in the second half is what we're about."

Murray's side are next in action this weekend when they take on Stoke City at Oakwell, where they have the perfect opportunity to pull away from the Potters who currently sit bottom of the Championship table.

The Verdict:

Woodrow is going to be key to their survival bid this season.

The former Fulham forward has already popped up with a number of important goals and will be hoping that he can build on some positive performances so far in this year's league campaign.

It's important that Barnsley keep hold of him heading into the January transfer window, as it certainly wouldn't come as a surprise to see other clubs registering their interest in Woodrow after such a strong start this term.

If they choose to cash in on him, then it would be a move that doesn't sit well with the majority of the Oakwell faithful.
