Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth bolstered his squad on Monday by securing the services of Rolando Aarons.

As confirmed by the club's official website, the winger has joined the Chairboys on loan from Newcastle United until January.

Despite bursting onto the scene as a teenager for the Magpies in 2014, Aarons has since failed to establish himself as a regular starter due to a myriad of injury issues.

Having spent the second-half of the previous campaign on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, the winger will now be aiming to make a positive impression for Wycombe.

Currently fifth in the League One standings, Ainsworth's side will unquestionably be looking to build upon what has been an impressive start to the 2019/20 season.

Whilst there is no doubting that Aarons possesses an abundance of talent, it will be intriguing to see whether he will able to produce the goods on a consistent basis.

Here, in our latest spotlight article, we look at whether the the winger  will be able to help the Chairboys achieve success in the third tier by looking at his statistics from his time with the Owls.

Brought to Hillsborough by then-boss Steve Bruce in January, Aarons made 10 appearances for the Owls as he helped them achieve a 12th place finish in the Championship.

Playing a total of 604 minutes over the course of these games, the 23-year-old only managed to find the back of the net on one occasion.

Taking into consideration the fact that he has only scored five goals during his career, he may not be able to provide any firepower from the wide areas for Wycombe.

However, Aarons could use his passing ability to his advantage at Adams Park.

During his time with the Owls, the winger not only provided two assists for his team-mates but he also ended the year with a pass success rate of 76.7%.

If he can replicate, or even exceed these numbers for Wycombe, he could become an influential player in League One.

Whilst the fact that Aarons was only able to win 35.3% of his aerial duels will be somewhat of a worry for Ainsworth, the winger's  willingness to take the opposition on could help the Chairboys considerably.

Having recorded a dribble success rate of 51% last season, Aarons will be wanting to improve upon this statistic even more during his spell with Wycombe.

If the former Hellas Verona loanee can hit the ground running for the Chairboys, there is no reason why they cannot go on to achieve a great deal of success in the third-tier over the coming months.
