Rotherham United made it back to back league wins on Saturday, as with a 2-1 victory over early League One play-off contenders Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

After Matt Smith had given Rotherham the lead early in the second half, former Blackpool man Clark Robertson doubled their advantage with just three minutes of normal time remaining, meaning Armand Gnanduillet's stoppage-time penalty was not enough to salvage anything for the hosts.

The game is one that Robertson in particular will surely remember, not just thanks of his winning goal against his former side, but also because he hadn't even been meant to start to the game, before being thrust into the action after Joe Mattock encountered a fitness problem in the warmup.

So how did Robertson cope with his late call up to Paul Warne's starting XI?

Here, we put the spotlight on the defender's performance at Bloomfield Road to find out.

Despite the fact that he hadn't been expecting to start the game, Robertson was evidently well prepared to do so, coming through 101 minutes - including stoppage time - on the Bloomfield Road pitch, and making quite an impact in the process.

Not only did Robertson get what would prove to be the match-winner with a sweetly hit half-volley into the far corner just minutes from time, but he also played a part in the Millers' opener, as it was his header across the face of goal that set-up Matt Smith to give Rotherham the lead.

Indeed, Robertson would clearly be an asset in the air all day for Rotherham, with the 26-year-old winning two-thirds of his aerial duels across the course of the game, highlighting his use to Rotherham from set-pieces in both defence and attack.

As well as posing a threat in attack for Rotherham on Saturday, Robertson also did his defensive duty effectively against his former club.

With the left-back for the day winning more than half of his defensive duels, it does seem as though he was a more than reliable addition to the Millers' backline, particularly when you consider he was up against one of Blackpool's most dangerous attacking outlets in the form of pacy winger Liam Feeney.

Add to that the fact that Robertson also played a big role in breaking down a number of Blackpool attacks throughout the course of the game by making a grand total of 13 interceptions, shows just how sharp and alert Robertson was on Saturday, despite the fact that wasn't expecting to start the game until shortly before kick-off.

While Rotherham manager Paul Warne was not planning to start Robertson on Saturday, is does appear as though his performance against his old side, has made it difficult for Warne not to name in his XI to begin with next weekend.
