Rotherham face the mammoth task this weekend of coming up against title favourites Newcastle United away at St James' Park, a seemingly almost impossible task.

However, The Millers players and fans alike will be in a buoyant mood after their surprise 2-1 victory over play-off hopefuls Norwich City last week.

The club are bringing a sell out away crowd of over 3000 on Saturday and with the roar of the crowd behind them, anything is possible.

The Millers currently sit 9 points away from safety and any result other than a defeat would be considered a brilliant one this weekend.

This article is going to take a look at the starting eleven that could potentially cause an upset this weekend...

GK - Lewis Price

The Millers confirmed the signing of stopper Richard O'Donnell on Thursday morning however, it is likely that Lewis Price will remain in goal for this one as the new man beds into his new surroundings.

Price hasn't made any significant mistakes since the injury to Lee Camp made him the club's undisputed number one, and has put on some solid Goalkeeping displays.

LB - Joe Mattock

Consistent full back Joe Mattock would retain his starting place at left back for this one in my preferred Rotherham United XI.

The former Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City man has spent the majority of his career at Championship level and his experience will be vital if The Millers are to pick up a win this weekend.

CB - Richard Wood

Richard Wood would retain his place at centre back in my preferred Rotherham United XI for this upcoming game against Newcastle United.

Wood is an old school centre back who takes a saftey first approach, something admired by the Rotherham fans. Wood as adhered himself to the Rotherham faithful and has become a real fans favourite down at The New York Stadium.

CB - Aymen Belaid

With Paul Warne confirming that Kirk Broadfoot is a "Severe Doubt" for this weekends clash with pace setters Newcastle United it will be up to Tunisian Aymen Belaid to step and deliver the goods.

Belaid is a centre half who has been brought back into the first team fold by caretaker boss Paul Warne and will be keen to repay his faith by putting in a defensively solid performance.

RB - Darnell Fisher

Fisher was brought in from Scottish giants Celtic by Alan Stubbs in the summer and has taken to life with Rotherham United very well.

He has put in some consistently solid displays this season and looks to be getting better with every passing game. At just the age of 22, Fisher has plenty of time to improve and he looks like he could become a leading Championship full back in the future

LM - Joe Newell

Midfield playmaker Joe Newell has improved his performances dramatically since Paul Warne took the reigns as caretaker boss. The former Peterborough man is a technically gifted wideman and is the creative heartbeat of this Rotherham United team.

Newell will be hoping to continue his good form this weekend as the club face off against Newcastle United.

CM - Richard Smallwood

Defensive minded midfield Richard Smallwood returned from his loan spell at Scunthorpe last week, to put in a brilliant performance in The Millers 2-1 victory over Norwich City.

Smallwood sat infront of the back four, broke up play, made tackles and was a general nuisance to Norwich's attacking players, something The Millers have been sorely lacking all season.

CM - Tom Adeyemi

Tom Adeyemi has impressed as of lat in The Millers midfield which has led to many fans calling for him to be signed up permanently by the club should the opportunity present itself.

The athletic, strong and powerful midfield man certainly makes The Millers are more solid and stable side when playing and will no doubt retain his place in the starting eleven for this one.

RM - Anthony Forde

Anthony Forde has jumped ahead of club record signing Jon Taylor since Paul Warne took the reigns at the New York Stadium and you can expect to see him continue for this one.

Forde offers much more defensively than perhaps Taylor does hence why he would be the better pick for this particular game.

ST - Jerry Yates

Young forward Jerry Yates was handed his first league start last week against Norwich City after Danny Ward was ruled out, with injury and the 20- year-old repaid Paul Warne's faith in him my netting the opening goal of the game.

Yates showed good strength and skill in his hold up play and was awarded the man of the match award for his efforts.

ST - Danny Ward

Danny Ward looks set to be available for selection once again this weekend and will no doubt be one of Paul Warne's first names on the teamsheet.

The in demand frontman has been in brilliant goalscoring form so far this campaign and will be keen to add another to his tally this weekend.
