After a slow start to the season, there was plenty of doom and gloom surrounding Leeds United after such a promising summer.

Garry Monk's managerial position was in jeopardy with Massimo Cellino reportedly very close to axing the former Swansea boss after just a few games in the job.

Then came a scrappy win at home to relegation candidates Blackburn Rovers, courtesy of a late Kyle Bartley goal.

That seemed to be the confidence boost the club needed, though, as they have since gone on to win the next three games in all competitions.

This upturn in form has added some job security to Garry Monk's position and has fired the Yorkshire outfit up to the top half of the Championship.

On Tuesday night, Leeds face a tough trip to Ashton Gate where they will take on high-flying, free-scoring, in-form Bristol City.

Just one point separates these two sides and Leeds will be anxious to grab all three points and leapfrog the Robins to climb further up the table.

This is the XI - in a 4-2-3-1 formation - that Garry Monk should deploy to get the win against Bristol City on Tuesday.....

GK: Rob Green

robert greenrobert greensssss

Leeds are benefiting from Rob Green's vast experience of goalkeeping at the top level.

The former Norwich, West Ham and QPR man is a safer choice than Marco Silvestri.

The 36-year-old former England international is a top class goalkeeper and seemingly unbeatable on his day so Leeds will be hoping for more of the same this Tuesday.

RB: Luke Ayling

luke-aylingddd

It will be a return to Ashton Gate for former Bristol City man Luke Ayling, who joined Leeds United in the summer.

The 25-year-old is a right back who can also play at centre back, or as a defensive midfielder and he will be familiar with the threat that Lee Johnson's Bristol City will be posing to the Leeds defence this Tuesday.

The former Arsenal youngster has well over 200 appearances in the Football League, so he adds experience to the right full back spot.

Gaetano Berardi is still recovering from injury and will not return in time.

CB: Kyle Bartley

bartleybartley

Kyle Bartley has been excelling in the centre half role for Leeds since joining on loan from Swansea earlier in the year.

The 25-year-old is a 6'4'' physical defender and has contributed to Leeds' solid defensive displays in recent games.

They'll be hoping for more of the same from the former England under-17 international as Leeds try to somehow stop ten-goal Tammy Abraham.

CB: Pontus Jansson

Leeds fans will be boosted by news that Pontus Jansson's loan deal automatically becomes permanent for £3.7m, if he plays 20 games for the club whilst on loan.

Since the 25-year-old has been brought into the first team, Leeds have tightened up significantly with the fans praising Jansson's defensive qualities.

The 6'5'' Sweden international is on loan from Torino and Monk will be relying on him to have another good game.

LB: Charlie Taylor

A number of Premier League clubs were circling want-away left back Charlie Taylor but Leeds somehow managed to keep their prize academy product. The 23-year-old is one of the best left backs in the league and has been a mainstay in Monk's defence since he took over as manager. The former England under-19 international is knuckling down with the Yorkshire club now after expressing a desire to leave during the summer window.

CM: Eunan O'Kane

eunan-okaneeunan-okaneeunan-okane

Eunan O'Kane was arguably the man of the match against Ipswich and is already proving to be a good piece of business this summer.

The 26-year-old has plenty of experience at this level and is comfortable in attack and defence, which makes him the ideal central midfielder.

The tidy but tenacious Republic of Ireland international is reigniting his career after a frustrating campaign with Bournemouth last season.

CM: Ronaldo Vieira

ronaldo-vieirad

With Liam Bridcutt injured, Monk will choose between Kalvin Phillips and Ronaldo Vieira for the other central midfield spot.

If he's fit (he missed the weekend clash with Ipswich) Vieira is the better option at the moment.

The 18-year-old is already showing how talented he is and is displaying maturity beyond his years.

Composed, energetic and quick, it has been quite some breakthrough year for the talented youngster from Guinea-Bissau.

RM: Hadi Sacko

hadi-sackoss

Leeds fans are not too sure what to expect from Hadi Sacko.

The unpredictable 22-year-old can produce a moment of brilliance or ineptitude at any point.

However with Kemar Roofe not fully bedded in yet, Sacko will probably be given the nod again in midweek.

The former France youth international is on loan from Sporting Lisbon and capable of playing anywhere in the attacking midfield line or as a striker.

He has been producing inconsistent service but has picked up a few assists and does have a special moment in him so he's probably worth the gamble on the wing.

CAM: Pablo Hernandez

Pablo HernandezPablo Hernandezssa

Pablo Hernandez is really starting to ooze class now in an attacking central midfield role for Leeds.

He scored a sublime individual goal against Cardiff, and is so dangerous when he brings the ball forward and introduces others to the game.

The 31-year-old former Spain international is back in England initially on loan but Leeds fans will be keen to make his move permanent if he can keep up his performances.

LM: Stuart Dallas

dallasss

Stuart Dallas is probably Leeds' unsung hero.

The Northern Ireland international winger is an exciting outlet in the wide areas and he can make things happen out of nothing.

After an impressive debut season for Leeds last year - where he won Players' Player of the Season - Dallas has continued his fine form into this season and will look to provide service to the front man.

ST: Chris Wood

chris-woodd

Chris Wood is on fire at the moment with 7 goals this season and 4 in his last 4 games in all competitions.

The New Zealand international has answered his critics in emphatic style with a return to goalscoring form, and the Bristol City defence will have their work cut out to keep him quiet if he can continue performing as he is.

The 24-year-old is a 6'3'' target man who will look to hold the ball up and get on the end of crosses.
