Whilst we all know the second city derby is one of the biggest games in England when Birmingham City get the chance to take on Aston Villa, there is also a tastiness about their clashes with Wolverhampton Wanderers too.

Their Black Country rivals are on the up right now with new owners, a new manager and a real optimism that things are going in the right direction as they eventually try and get back into the Premier League.

But Gary Rowett and his Blues side will be looking to take the spring out of Wolves' step on Saturday at St Andrews.

Birmingham haven't started badly at all and remain unbeaten domestically after a 1-1 draw at Wigan on Tuesday evening.

It was a game they could have won too and Rowett will be looking to get back to winning ways this weekend.

So with that in mind, here's the Birmingham City side that should take to the field against Wolves......

GK: Tomasz Kuszczak

Tomasz Kuszczak666

The Pole is expected to remain between the sticks for the majority of Birmingham's fixtures this season, barring any serious injury troubles.

He's got bags of experience at this level with the likes of Brighton and is now in his second season with Blues.

A steady figure between the sticks.

RB: Jonathan Spector

Jonathan Spectord

The former United man has slotted in quite nicely at right-back following Paul Caddis' rather mysterious expulsion from the first-team, and much like Kuszczak, he's pretty reliable.

Was never renowned for his defensive work, but has made the switch from centre-midfield to full-back pretty well, and it seems like he is the number one pick on the right-hand side going forward.

CB: Michael Morrison

Captain Michael Morrison is the heartbeat of this side and expect Birmingham to do well if the former Huddersfield man is on top of his game.

He scored the winner in his side's 2-1 away win at Leeds last weekend, and will hope to get on the scoresheet more often if chances allow.

But his role is keeping the goals out and he feels like a real presence at the heart of the defence.

CB: Ryan Shotton

Shotton

The former Stoke man arrived this summer on a permanent deal, after spending time at St Andrews on-loan last season. And so far, he's impressed.

Much like Morrison, he's a solid option at the back but he's a real leader.

Can often be heard from row Z in the ground and in what will be a tough Championship season, a real leader never goes amiss.

LB: Jonathan Grounds

After a shaky start, Jonathan Grounds is now ticking along quite nicely.

Some Blues fans feel Rowett should bring someone in to challenge the former Oldham man, and they're probably right, but until then, Grounds will play left-back.

He's not your typical rampaging full-back but does his job astutely and can also swing a pretty decent ball into the box too.

CDM: Maikel Kieftenbeld

Kieftenbeld

The former Groningen man has become a really big part of this Birmingham City team, and he's expected to feature heavily as the season moves forward.

He's a no-nonsense player who loves get stuck in and breaking up the opponents play in the middle of the park.

A useful, scrappy player to have at this level.

CDM: Robert Tesche

Robert TescheRobert Tesche

With David Davis and Stephen Gleeson looking a little tired against Wigan on Tuesday, Rowett could change it up and bring in summer recruit Robert Tesche for the game against Wolves.

The former Nottingham Forest man is a good passer of the ball and will compliment the rough-and-ready attitude that his Dutch colleague brings to the side.

Blues have good depth in this area of the park and Rowett should use the whole of his squad.

RM/RW: Jacques Maghoma

The pacy Congolese winger has been a big player for Birmingham since his move from Burton Albion, and expect him to keep his place in the squad for this one.

Somewhat scored against Leeds United (the goal was given as an own goal as a result of his work) and will be looking to add to his tally as the season continues.

CAM/CF: Diego Fabbrini

fabbrinifabbrini

We want to see Diego Fabbrini start this game against Wolves on Saturday.

The Italian playmaker hasn't yet been unleashed by Rowett this season, but in front of a busy St Andrews crowd who want to be entertained, Fabbrini could be excellent.

Has the ability to beat a player with his flair and trickery big parts of his game.

LM/LW: Greg Stewart

greg stewart

Former Dundee man Greg Stewart should get his first start against Wolves.

He's been touted as one of the best players Dundee have ever had, and Blues fans will look forward to seeing that directness he had in his game up in Scotland.

ST: Clayton Donaldson

Clayton DonaldsonClayton Donaldsondd

Has his critics at St Andrews, but once the goals start flowing, the Jamaican international will soon get the supporters back onside.

Has a tough job leading the line on his own, but if Rowett starts with this team he will get plenty of offensive support from the likes of Adams, Stewart and Maghoma, all of whom can play off him to get at Carl Ikeme in the Wolves goal.

If there was ever a game to get St Andrews rocking early on, this could be it.

And should Rowett choose this lineup, it really shows his boldness and ability to use the whole of his squad.
