After the glamour tie against Liverpool in midweek, it's back down to business for Argyle on Saturday as they make the short trip up the M5 to Cheltenham.

It was so close for Derek Adams and his men, but they fought valiantly, played some excellent football and had Liverpool scared at times.

They may have lost the game, but won praise from their fans and neutrals alike.

However, there's promotion to win for the Pilgrims.

They're currently sat second in League Two, four points behind leaders Doncaster with a game in hand, and six points ahead of fourth place Portsmouth having played a game less.

The trip to Cheltenham is a great way to keep the pressure on, but it won't be easy as the Robins have their own battle that they're involved in.

They sit just one point outside of the relegation zone, and gave Argyle a real game last time around.

Back in September on a miserable day in Plymouth, Cheltenham defended valiantly, only beaten by a 92nd minute winner from Sonny Bradley.

Both teams need the three points for different reasons, so it will be interesting to see who can come out on top in this one.

Here, FLW's Ryan Evans picks an XI that can beat Cheltenham Town on Saturday afternoon...

GK: Luke McCormick

The 33-year old is arguably one of the best 'keepers in the division, and having played in every league and FA Cup match this season, has kept eleven clean sheets and been a crucial reason why his side are in second place in the league table.

He impressed as a part of the Argyle defence against Liverpool at Anfield, and his penalty save late in the Home Park replay is what kept his side in with a chance late on.

McCormick is pivotal to this team, and breeds confidence into the whole side.

Even when the defence are beaten, the striker then has to get past McCormick, which is not an easy task at all.

RB: Oscar Threlkeld

After signing permanently in the summer, Threlkeld has been a revelation wherever he plays.

For the Cheltenham game, he'll probably play right-back due to the injury suffered by Gary Miller at Anfield.

When the 22-year has played in right-back in previous games, he's been awesome in his covering of his colleagues, and has been a vital role in the team going forward.

There was no better example than this than the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Home Park on Wednesday, when he created two of Argyle's best chances to score.

The ex-Bolton man can become a great player, and Adams will be hoping that he can continue this great form of his into Saturday's game.

CB: Sonny Bradley

Argyle's best player at Anfield, the determined Bradley is always in the right place at the right time. He can pop up the other end with a goal or an important knock down, too.

Even with Nauris Bulvitis now back fit, Bradley is likely to retain his place and be Argyle's lead centre-back.

Like McCormick, Bradley hasn't missed a league or FA Cup game this season, and, if they go up, it's this incredible spine of the team that will be the reason.

CB: Yann Songo'o

Despite starting the season in centre-midfield, Songo'o has found a home at the back for Argyle.

He dropped back in after Bulvitis's injury, and hasn't looked back since. The physicality that the two centre-backs possess is impressive, and they are a formidable duo for any team to go up against.

However, one weakness this side has is a lack of pace on the turn.

If Cheltenham are to beat Argyle, their best chance is to play the long ball over the top and get these two centre-backs facing their own goal.

It worked for Wycombe on Boxing Day, but will Songo'o and Bradley learn their lesson ahead of Saturday's important match.

LB: Gary Sawyer

Whilst Ben Purrington has been a revelation this season, holding his own in the first team in Sawyer's long-term injury absence, he picked up a fifth yellow card of the season late on against Liverpool and will miss Saturday's trip to Gloucestershire.

Sawyer's return to the bench for Wednesday's replay came just in time, as he'll likely be recalled to the first XI for the game. He will be motivated by the fact that if he puts in a good performance, it may be impossible for Adams to recall Purrington for the visit of Blackpool on 28th January. However, it will have to be an extremely good performance for that to happen.

CM: David Fox

After a slow start, the former Norwich man has become one of Argyle's most important players. His set-piece taking ability has led him to be able to punch on the same weight as the excellent Graham Carey, and has only missed one league game since August.

The one thing missing from Fox's game is to get on the scoresheet. He's best at starting moves of with an amazing delivery, so has only gained two assists so far. However, if he keeps dictating the play in the middle of the park, then Plymouth could well keep on winning.

CM: Ryan Donaldson

Donaldson came into the team for the replay with Liverpool after the injury to Connor Smith last weekend.

With Threlkeld covering at right-back and David Ijaha injured, then Donaldson is likely to have to play this Saturday, despite himself only recently returning from a jaw injury.

He was mainly anonymous against the Reds, but that could be because of how little possession they had. The Pilgrims are likely to have more of the ball against Cheltenham, we can see how good the former-Cambridge player is.

CAM: Craig Tanner

The second change I'd make to the team that lost to Liverpool is to bring Craig Tanner in for Jordan Slew.

The 24-year old's tracking back left the Pilgrims vulnerable on the left at times against Liverpool, and in one instance they almost scored because of it.

When Tanner has come on in recent games, he's been highly impressive.

The 22-year old works hard, is quick and scored on New Year's Eve in the win over Crawley.

Adams will be hoping that the Reading loanee can add to his tally of four goals and three assists in the league so far.

RW: Jake Jervis

Jervis came by far the closest to scoring on Wednesday night, his overhead kick smashing against the woodwork that made all 17,000 fans inside Home Park and the many more watching on the TV thinking that Argyle had equalised.

He was excellent on the right-hand side, teaming up with Oscar Threlkeld brilliantly to create a number of chances for the Pilgrims.

I expect Jervis to be able to do the same against Cheltenham, and when he plays well, the 25-year old is one of the most important players for Derek Adams's side.

ST: Nate Blissett

My final change would be to bring new signing Nate Blissett into the side for loanee Arnold Garita.

Blissett signed for the Pilgrims earlier in January, but so far has only had a few minutes as a substitute appearance against Stevenage because of being cup-tied for the games against Liverpool.

Strong and powerful, Blissett scored four for Torquay earlier this season and will be hoping that playing with better players further down the A38 will help him to improve that figure, starting on Saturday when they visit Cheltenham.

LW: Graham Carey

With Tanner's improved performances through the middle, Carey could well switch out to the left-hand side for this one.

He can use his surprising pace, excellent delivery and silky skills to give the Cheltenham right-back a hard time, just like he did in the first fixture back in September.

The 27-year old was excellent that day, and after disappointing in both ties against boyhood side Liverpool, Adams and the Green Army will hope that Carey can find his form again to help the Pilgrims maintain the pressure on  Doncaster at the top of League Two.
