Aiden McGeady has admitted he is open to the idea of remaining with Preston North End beyond his current loan deal, which expires at the end of the season, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.

The Republic of Ireland international joined North End during the summer transfer window, on a season-long loan from Premier League side Everton.

The midfielder has scored three goals in 17 league starts for Simon Grayson’s side, and told the LEP he was enjoying his time at Deepdale: “I’ve still got another year at Everton but I think it is quite clear that I’m not part of the manager’s plans there.

“I will see how it goes until the end of the season and see what happens in the summer.

“If it comes to it and Preston want to offer me something, I like it here.”

The 30-year old struck twice during Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Brentford in the Sky Bet Championship.

Grayson admitted it may be hard to keep McGeady at the club beyond his current loan deal: “His wages are obviously going to be difficult for any club because of the level of money he is earning.

“Full credit to Everton, they have helped us with that this year.”

North End remained 11th in the Championship table following Saturday’s victory, seven points behind Sheffield Wednesday in the Play-Off places.

Grayson’s side are in action at Deepdale again this Tuesday, where they face Gianfranco Zola’s Birmingham City.
