With Reading sitting in 15th in the table, they are marooned in mid-table and there is a serious risk that their season will fizzle out, with only an FA Cup run keeping the fans interested.

Brian McDermott might look to take advantage of Spurs' excellent youth set up and the wealth of youth talent that is itching for some first team football, and the opportunity to prove themselves.

Reading have proved themselves to be a reliable option and a good choice for Premier League clubs to loan out their young talent too, this provides an excellent opportunity for Reading to improve the quality of their squad for the final months of the season.

Tottenham have had one of the best seasons in recent memory and Dele Alli has been a huge part of their success.

This may give Mauricio Pochettino the incentive to use the emergency loan window to loan out some of the young talents, to attempt to unearth another rough diamond like Dele Alli in preparation for next season.

This article will look at THREE players that Reading could potentially get on loan who would be a good fit for the Berkshire club……

Harry Winks

Harry Winks

One player that could leave the North London club on loan is Harry Winks. The London-born midfielder has come through Tottenham's academy and has featured for the club at every level.

The young midfielder has also become an England international at Under 17, 18 and 19 level which shows that his talent and performances have been subsequently rewarded with International call ups at the age groups that he was eligible for.

Winks tends to play the deeper role as a playmaker that can pull the strings when given the time on the ball and when he is in full flow, he plays with the confidence that goes well beyond his age.

McDermott may look to bring Winks in after the injury to Tshibola and it could be an excellent signing as Winks is at the level where with the right loan move and given enough time to show his quality, he could follow in the footsteps of Tom Carroll and be challenging to be a huge part of Spurs' next generation of first-team players.

Josh Onomah

Josh Onomah0

Whereas Harry Winks is on the periphery, Josh Onomah has been heavily involved in Tottenham's starting XI this season.

This season has been his breakthrough season as he has made five appearances, this includes both in the Premier League and Europa League.

Onomah particularly impressed in Spurs 4-1 victory over Monaco, where he showed his talent and ability as he stole the spotlight from his fellow teammates.

The young midfielder and is a bright prospect, he has the versatility of playing centrally in midfield or on the left and right and also has the skill to pick a pass but what would particularly excite Reading fans is his mentality.

Onomah is constantly on the front foot and has the engine and stamina to run all game. He also has the creativity and flair and technical attributes to thrive in the Championship but also the physical attributes of pace and strength which are also a necessary feature to be successful at this level.

The well-rounded attacking midfielder would be an excellent acquisition for the Berkshire club.

Clinton N'Jie

Clinton N'Jie

The final player that McDermott could try to prise away from Spurs on loan is Clinton N'Jie.

Of the three players, the most ambitious option as he recently joined the North London club for roughly £8.3 million from Lyon.

Since joining from Lyon, N'Jie has showed his potential with lightning fast pace and intelligent movement, the combination being a nightmare for defences to cope with. He is constantly on the shoulder of defenders, ready to turn and run into space and very few can keep up with him when he's in full stride.

Another impressive feature of his game is that despite his young age, N'Jie has the calmness and composure, not to get flustered in front of goal. With the right service, he could be prolific in the Championship with the quality and talent that he possesses.

Despite the hefty price tag, the Cameroonian international has only featured a handful of times and looked out of his depth. In the Europa League tie against Monaco, N'Jie picked up a knee injury which subsequently led to surgery.

On his road to recovery, a loan move may allow him to find his feet in English football as well as giving him regular football week in, week out which will help improve his fitness and match sharpness.

If, and it is a big if, Brian McDermott could draw someone of his calibre to the club even if he is still recovering from an injury, he would be a huge asset for the club and offer something completely different to the attacking options at the club at the moment.

A signing of that magnitude would make Reading a must watch team regardless of their league position.
