As of writing this, prior to Sheffield Wednesday's trip to the south coast on Friday, the Owls comfortably sit in the play-offs, five points ahead of seventh-placed Derby County.

Manager Carlos Carvalhal has been busy in the transfer market to add strength to his already bolstered squad with the arrivals of 26-year-old forward Sam Winnall, defender Morgan Fox and loanee Callum McManaman from West Bromwich Albion.

It's clear the Portuguese has got his priorities right this month as he looks to continue the club's impressive form which has seen them climb into the top-six.

Although there could be a number of players on their way out of Hillsborough in January and with less than two weeks remaining, several will be wanting to move away from the Yorkshire side for a change of scenery or challenge their career to the maximum.

Whatever the reason may be, FLW's Ryan White looks at three Sheffield Wednesday players who'd be best of leaving this month...

Vincent Sasso

At the age of 25-years-old, Vincent Sasso will be looking to get regular first-team and that is something he isn't currently getting at Sheffield Wednesday this season.

The French defender returned to Hillsborough on a permanent basis in the summer from Braga following a successful loan spell at the club the previous campaign.

Sasso has made just two appearances under Carvalhal this term; one came in their 3-2 victory over Bristol City back in September and the second was earlier in January during a goalless draw at home Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He is struggling to even get on the fringes of the Owls' squad and for me, it's best if he departs Hillsborough this month so the former French under-21 international can get minutes on the pitch - something he won't get if he continues to stay at Wednesday.

Atdhe Nuhiu

The 27-year-old was once the first name on the team sheet at Hillsborough but has slowly fallen down the pecking order under manager Carlos Carvalhal.

Atdhe Nuhiu signed for the Yorkshire club in the summer of 2015 from Austrian outfit Rapid Wien and the forward has racked up 136 appearances for the Owls in the three and a half years he's been there.

This season the Austrian has played a part in as little as sixteen matches for the team and a move away looks to be on the cards.

I can only assume the attack-minded player is on fairly high wages and if he isn't going to be starting every week then I don't see why he should be earning as much as he might be, so therefore it's best if Nuhiu departed at some point before the window closes.

Cameron Dawson

The goalkeeper position is one which Sheffield Wednesday don't lack strength in. The Owls have Keiren Westwood and Joe Wildsmith so a man between the sticks at 21 years-old needs to be getting more game time to progress his career.

Dawson is currently third choice under the Portuguese boss, and despite loan spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle to gain experience, it doesn't look like he'll be starting a match any time soon.

All of the keeper's appearances for the club have come this season with six altogether; two coming whilst on loan at Adams Park.

Whether it be on loan or a permanent transfer, Cameron Dawson is best off moving away from Wednesday this month to add more to his game and get experience under his belt.
