Queens Park Rangers are a point off the play-offs after 11 games of the season under summer appointment Mark Warburton, but which three players will have to impress him in the run-up to New Year to keep their starting spot?

QPR fans were quietly confident of having a good season under new manager Mark Warburton. The former Brentford and Nottingham Forest manager had reshaped the club over the summer, signing 14 first-team players.

So far his transformation has worked - his side sit in 9th-place in the Championship, with just a single point separating them from Bristol City in 6th.

He’s made first-team players out of several youngsters this season, and has proved that his recruitment strategy is working with QPR’s best players so far arguably being their loan-players.

QPR now have 14 games standing between them and 2020, plenty of time for Warburton to assess his team before the transfer window opens.

Here we look at three players who’ll need to impress in the next 14 games to keep themselves in contention at Loftus Road:

Grant Hall

Grant Hall joined QPR from Tottenham Hotspur in 2015 and went on to win Supporters’ Player of the Year in his first season in West London.

Since then, though, Hall has been battling persistent injuries which saw him feature just 16 times in the Championship over the course of the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.

He’s so far made ten appearances for Warburton this season, and looks to be slowly finding his feet after two years in and out of the team.

Although he’s not been involved in any of QPR’s last four games, he remains a key rotation player in the heart of the defence.

He’ll likely get be in the mix for QPR’s trip to Hull this weekend after some questionable defensive displays from his teammates of late.

Josh Scowen

Josh Scowen has been an ever-reliable performer since arriving on a free from Barnsley in 2017.

The defensive midfielder was a key figure during his first two seasons at the club, and has played a good deal under Warburton this season.

Though he wasn’t the first-choice going into the season - loanee midfielder Luke Amos from Tottenham impressed in pre-season to secure the spot, but has only played 22 minutes of QPR’s last eight through injury.

With Amos expected to return to the squad for the Hull game, Scowen may find himself playing second-fiddle once more.

He will certainly be given more opportunities in the run up to the New Year though and will have to be on top-form when he plays to keep Amos out of the team.

Joe Lumley

The goalkeeping spot at QPR has been in contention of late.

QPR remain one of two teams in the Championship yet to keep a clean sheet this season. Joe Lumley started the season at the preferred choice, but for the last two games going into the international was dropped for Liam Kelly.

Kelly conceded five goals in those two games and looked nervy on both occasions. Lumley may well return to the first-team for the trip to Hull, and he too will have to be on top form to keep his spot in the squad come January.
