It's been a seriously disappointing start for Leeds United this campaign, despite all the optimism that this could in fact be their year during their pre-season campaign.

New manager Garry Monk was supposed to come in and crack the whip, getting his players into shape and ready for the season ahead.

The reality has been a squad that has won just once in the league, losing three times and drawing once. It's been a frustrating start for the Whites, who have conceded three twice already this season, in their opener against Crystal Palace and against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

What Leeds fans wanted was a complete overhaul but even with last season's favourite Liam Bridcutt back, they're struggling to pull results together.

Certain members of the squad have really struggled to step up and Leeds supporters have been extremely vocal about what they've seen already this campaign.

So with that in mind, are there certain individuals who should be sold as the 11:30pm transfer deadline draws to a close?

FootballLeagueWorld author Hayden Atkins takes us through three names who deserve the chop before Wednesday evening....

Sol Bamba

If there was one man who shouldn't be in this position it's club captain Sol Bamba.

The former Leicester City man has been openly criticised on a number of occasions this season and was dropped for the game against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Leeds still lost 3-1, but on-loan Swansea man Kyle Bartley put on a much better display than Bamba, who has looked incredibly shaky at times this season. Even during Leeds' cup victory over Luton Town, Bamba looked unsure of himself.

Monk needs to get ruthless with this Leeds United side, or risk losing his job just a couple of months after starting his role. Axing his captain would set a real precedence amongst the squad: Perform, or you're out.

Marco Silvestri

Former Cagliari goalkeeper Marco Silvestri was a first-team starter for Leeds for a couple of years from 2014 to the end of last season but with Rob Green coming in, his stay could quickly be ended this summer.

The Whites also have former Hull man Ross Turnbull waiting in the wings and it just seems like they have too many keepers on their books right now.

This decision is a little less based on what we've seen on the pitch, but moving the Italian on could free up funds elsewhere for a last-minute deal.

Chris Wood

Former Birmingham City striker Chris Wood has certainly attracted plenty of fan criticism this season, despite being the man who is relied on to score goals.

Perhaps it is this reliance that has caused the New Zealand international to struggle in certain games but he has been far from clinical for Leeds this season.

You get the feeling that if he doesn't start to score plenty of goals right away, the Elland Road faithful might continue with their headhunt.

Works hard but on many occasions, he doesn't seem at the races when it comes to hitting the back of the net time after time. Monk might be better to sell him and try and invest elsewhere, if he can find another option.
