It is likely to be a busy week in the transfer market for Nottingham Forest, with only four days to go until the January transfer window slams shut.

The Reds sit in a very promising position heading into the final few months of the season, with Sabri Lamouchi's side sitting four points off Leeds United in second place.

Forest, who occupy fourth spot in the Championship table, have endured a relatively quiet month, making only the one signing in Adama Diakhaby on loan from Huddersfield Town.

Elsewhere, Rafa Mir and Jack Robinson have both left the club, freeing up wages and potentially allowing Lamouchi to bolster his squad with fresh faces.

Forest will be desperate to add another striker to their ranks this month - Mir's departure has left leading goalscorer Lewis Grabban as the club's only out-and-out striker.

With that being said, then, we take a look at three transfer developments to keep an eye on at the City Ground this week...

Nahki Wells

It will be interesting to see where Nahki Wells will be playing his football come the end of the transfer window, with Bristol City and Forest said to be interested in signing the striker.

The 29-year-old has spent the first-half of this season on loan at Queens Park Rangers, scoring 15 goals in all competitions for Mark Warburton's side.

But the striker has recently been recalled by parent club Burnley, who are said to be keen to sell the Bermudan before the transfer window slams shut.

Now he's available to buy, a bidding war is likely to commence for Wells, and if Forest really want their man, then they may have to spend big to get him.

Bringing in a proven forward like Wells at this stage of the season could be a massive boost for Forest in their bid for promotion.

Nuno da Costa

Another striker who has been heavily linked with a move to Forest is Strasbourg's Nuno da Costa.

French newspaper L'Alsace claims that a deal to bring the Cape Verdean to the City Ground is "almost done", having reportedly agreed a three-year deal to join the Reds for around €2m.

The 28-year-old has scored only two goals in 20 appearances for Strasbourg this season, so his record in front of goal is hardly prolific to say the least.

But supporters were quick to judge the signings of the likes of Brice Samba and Samba Sow in the summer, and they have turned out to be inspired additions for the Reds.

He could be an interesting signing for Forest and it will be interesting to see how this one develops.

Joao Carvalho

In terms of departures, and there are likely to be question marks surrounding Carvalho's future at the City Ground between now and the end of the window.

The club-record signing arrived from Benfica last summer for £13.2m, but his performances have since flattered to deceive, having scored only six goals and produced nine assists in over 60 appearances thus far.

Carvalho has been in and out of the team under Sabri Lamouchi this season and has been linked with moves to Olympiacos and Trabzonspor of late, having made only eight starting appearances this term.

He is a player with so much talent deep down, it's just finding the right system for him to play in that seems to be the biggest issue, so it will be interesting to see whether Forest cash in or not.
