It's been par of the course so far for Sheffield Wednesday so far, who will hope to bring some talent over January to assert themselves in the play-offs.

The expectation of the club was to win promotion this year after the disappointment of losing in a play-off final to Hull City last season, having added some fine talent to their squad over the summer following.

The Owls haven't been as convincing as they were last year in the race for promotion, although will take confidence from the fact that their last season finish with a strong second half of the season.

They may not want to spend lots of money on new players in January and could look towards League One to add the talent to their ranks to win promotion.

Here are THREE League One stars for Sheffield Wednesday to bag in January to help them towards the Premier League.....

Matty Taylor

Sheffield Wednesday have a number of significant options up front, but will feel the need to boost their goal threat up front this month with Fernando Forestieri and Steven Fletcher their join top goalscorers with 6 each.

The club have already made an offer for Barnsley's Sam Winnall, showing that they are keen to bring in a striker, but I feel they should move for Matty Taylor.

Taylor is a born goalscorer and was the Football League's top scorer with 27 goals last year, adapting to League One life well with 15 so far this year.

This guy scores goals and Wednesday would do well to beat Leeds, Rangers and QPR to his signature.

Marcus Maddison

Wednesday do have a lot of impressive options out wide with players like Ross Wallace and Adam Reach to choose from, especially after taking Callum McManaman on loan during this month.

They could use the talents of Marcus Maddison in their squad who is renowned for being one of the finest players in the division.

The stats don't lie when it comes to Maddison, who already has six goals and 10 assists from out wide so far this season.

He's a player with real end product, and could be a useful addition for the Owls.

Ben Stevenson

It's fair to say little has been enjoyable for Coventry fans this season, but there has been one high point of their season: the introduction of Ben Stevenson.

The Coventry academy product has proven to have real potential this year.

Wednesday have some very impressive options in midfield, but there's no harm in bringing in talented young prospects who can slowly be blooded with the first team.
