After what has been a season to forget for Reading, maybe now the option of looking to the lower leagues should be used.

For many years there has been undoubted quality within League One, and many of these players can make the step up to the Championship.

Andre Gray, top scorer as well as leading his team to promotion, has been a major asset.

You also see it with teams who have been promoted from League One with many of Preston's team fighting it out comfortably at Championship level. Aden Flint another example of a defender being able to make his mark in a higher league.

But a big question is about making the right signings, and if your club is going to be spending a lot of money on lower league players then you have to make sure that the players signed can add something to the squad.

Reading need players with a different mentality to the current players - they need a squad that can gel as a team and a squad that has a winning mentality.

Here are THREE League One players that could lead to Reading FC to promotion next season.... Agreed?

Bradley Dack

In an outstanding campaign, the 22-year-old midfielder has been one of the driving forces behind the Gills’ promotion push with 13 league goals, and nine assists.
Having come through the ranks at Priestfield to make his debut in 2012, Dack has developed into one of the most outstanding talents in The Football League.
Any Championship club would be lucky to have him, and having linked well with Reading loanee Dom Samuel, this one wouldn't be too surprising.

Romaine Sawyers

Romaine Sawyers
The 24-year-old playmaker has been an integral part of the Saddlers team, which has spent the season battling for promotion, scoring six goals in 49 appearances.
Sawyers is a playmaker and one that could be a spark that Reading are missing.
With a solid defence behind him, could Romaine be the man to light up the Championship?

John Fleck

John Fleck Coventry
The Coventry midfielder is known as 'the oil in the machine' because of his hard work and running that goes into each game.
He's a player who has taken guidance under Tony Mowbray and improved enormously.
Having played 39 games this season, he has been Coventry's most consistent player throughout - winning the Coventry Player of the season award.
With Aaron Tshibola coming back into the Reading midfield, would John Fleck be the ideal partner?
