Portsmouth are a club that are back on the up after years of turmoil.

The club has been rocked by ownership issues over the past few years and after two administrations, there's finally light at the end of the tunnel.

Now owned by the Portsmouth supporters trust, the future of the club is looking bright and they've started well this season too.

Paul Cook has brought a real element of confidence to this current Pompey crop and it shows on the pitch.

They sit fifth after eight games and after missing out in the play-offs last season, it looks like this could be their year.

And part of this current Pompey set-up is the youth academy, and the pool of talent that is currently coming through the ranks at Fratton Park.

Plenty is expected from lots of these future stars and we're here to help you pick the best from the rest.

So with that in mind, here's THREE hidden gems currently at Pompey - have you heard of them?

Matthew Casey

Matthew Casey is a young centre-halve whom much is expected from as he continues his development.

Standing at a colossal 6ft 5" tall, the academy graduate is yet to make a first-team experience but development bosses have tipped him for great things in the future.

He's a really good footballer and is confident with the ball at his feet.

Time will tell how good it can get for Casey but if he continues growing, there is little doubt we could see him in the Pompey first-team sooner rather than later.

Curtis Main

You've got to give 24-year-old striker Curtis Main credit. He's scored three times already this season after a difficult couple of years which saw him leave Doncaster, he looks ready to lead Pompey's promotion charge.

He's physically very strong and there is little doubt he can be a force in this division as Paul Cook looks to take his team back to the third tier of English football.

Keep an eye on this lad as the season progresses - he's got a lot of lost time to catch up on but many are tipping him to shine.

Adam May

Plenty is expected from central-midfielder Adam May and at just 17-years-old, the youngster still has plenty of time to impress the Pompey faithful.

He scored twice for Pompey's development side as they beat a Liverpool youth XI back in August and has made a handful of first-team appearances too.

He's a player that is comfortable on the ball and who can really pick a pass. Remember the name - he could turn out to be a real star in the making.
