After last season’s heartbreak in the Championship play-off final against Hull City, Owls fans everywhere will be confident that they can go one step further this campaign.

The Owls sit in 6th place in the Championship standings on 45 points, however automatic promotion this time around looks unlikely, as they find themselves 13 points behind Newcastle and 15 points behind Brighton in 1st.

But nevertheless, the Hillsborough faithful will be very satisfied with their side’s progression this season, after getting off to a somewhat lacklustre start to this campaign.

With the January transfer window drawing ever closer, now is the perfect time for Carlos Carvalhal to get rid of the deadwood, and bring in fresh, new talent that will ignite a late promotion push towards the end of the term.

Here at FLW, we identify TWO thoughts that every Owls fan will have on their mind before the Tuesday deadline...

"Will we sign Jordan Rhodes?"

Wednesday have been linked with the Scotsman for what seems an eternity now, and understandably so.

The 26-year-old has netted a staggering 185 times in 359 career appearances, and has reached double figures in the goal scoring charts in his last 4 successive campaigns in the Championship.

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has slapped a £9million fee on the forward, and it will be interesting to see what exactly will happen.

"Will Lucas Joao stay at Wednesday?"

If Rhodes does sign for the Owls, Carlos Carvalhal will have 7 senior strikers under his ranks: Fernando Forestieri, Steven Fletcher, Sam Winnall, Atdhe Nuhiu, Gary Hooper, and Lucas Joao.

The latter has found his game time limited this campaign, despite netting 6 goals in 40 games last term.

Wigan Athletic are the latest club to be linked with the Portuguese forward, and it is hard to see his future remain at Hillsborough after transfer deadline day.

So...what do you think Wednesday fans? Are you confident that you will sign Jordan Rhodes? Will Lucas Joao be a Wednesday player come the end of the window? Let us know in the comments below!
