So far this season, Rotherham United have had an woeful campaign and it is looking very likely that they will be playing their football in England’s third tier next season.

Just three wins and thirteen points from their opening 25 games leaves the Millers six adrift of second bottom Wigan Athletic and a staggering 12 clear of safety.

However, there is a lot of football to be played from now until the end of the season and despite many fans believing the fight is over, the players will not stop fighting until the proverbial fat lady has sung.

January could be a crucial month for the club as a couple of key signings could spearhead their optimistic push for survival.

An area that must be made a priority by caretaker boss Paul Warne is a striker.

Quite simply goals win games and the Millers haven't been anywhere near prolific enough.

An out and out goalscoring striker could give Rotherham hope of staying up this season and completing an unlikely great escape against all odds.

This article is going to take a look at two potential strikers that the club could bring in this January...

Omar Bogle

There have been numerous reports linking The Millers with a move for Grimsby's star man this January transfer window and I am in no doubt that the club should certainly be taking a closer look at the powerful front man.

Bogle had a terrific campaign last season as Grimsby earned promotion to League Two through the National League play-offs, and throughout that campaign Bogle smashed in 19 goals in just over 50 appearances.

The 23-year-old’s goalscoring exploits have carried over into the current League Two campaign and Bogle currently finds himself as the highest goalscorer in League Two.

Having netted a remarkable 18 times already this campaign, Bogle has also chipped in with 4 assists along the way.

Dominic Solanke

Another striker that Rotherham United could potentially look to secure this transfer window is Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke on a loan deal.

Solanke is very highly rated by all down at Stamford Bridge and will no doubt be desperate to secure a loan move in January to get valuable experience of first team football week in, week out.

The 19-year-old spent last season on loan with Dutch side Vitesse, where he applied himself well, netting a very respectable 7 times in 25 appearances.

Solanke could add a bit of killer instinct into this Rotherham United side, something which has been desperately lacking so far this season.

A loan move to The New York Stadium would also give him the opportunity to link up with Chelsea teammate Izzy Brown who is also currently enjoying a loan spell with The Millers.
