Brentford go into the international break in 9th-place of the Championship after a fine 3-0 win away at Wigan Athletic last time out to cap an eventually solid start to the season.

16 games in and Thomas Frank is starting to get his Brentford side rolling.

It was a dismal start for the Dane - his side took just eight points from the opening eight games, and looked to be in for a long season in the Championship.

But the Bees have taken 16 points from the last eight, and with their win at Wigan have leapfrogged their West London rivals QPR to go 9th - four points off Bristol City in 6th.

They’ve won four of their last five Championship clashes, scoring 12 goals and keeping two clean sheets in the process.

There’s plenty for fans to get excited about and if Brentford’s form continues, they’ll find themselves in the top-six come the New year.

Here we take a look at two stats that will surely delight fans:

Bees on the road: 15 points away from home

Their last outing was their third consecutive away win in the Championship, meaning Brentford have now taken 15 points from 27 on the road.

It places Brentford fourth in the league’s away table, and this astute form away from Griffin Park will please Frank, who’s in his first full-season in charge of the club.

They’ve already won six games away from home this season, that’s double the amount they won in the whole of last season.

Behind their recent resurgence is a tactical masterstroke from Frank who for their win at Barnsley in September lined-up in a new and so far successful 4-3-3 formation.

Frank hasn't looked back since and find himself with a great opportunity to have Brentford’s best-ever season at Championship level.

Effective football: 7.7 shots inside the penalty box per game

On average, Brentford have 7.7 shots inside the box each game in the Championship - that’s more than the leaders West Brom average.

Brentford, since their tactical change at the end of September, have rediscovered the footballing identity that they seemingly lost last season, and have been wreaking havoc in opposition's penalty areas.

It shows that Brentford are able to break down defences, get in behind them and create goal-scoring opportunities for themselves.

Playing nice, attacking football is all well and good but if you’re not creating the chances, it doesn’t really matter.

Brentford though are playing and creating and showed great character to bounce back from the defeat to Huddersfield before the Wigan fixture.

They face Reading, Blackburn and Luton within the space of a week after the break, and the pile-up will be a huge test of their mettle going into half-way point of the season.
