Brentford were forced to settle for a point at the weekend as they drew 1-1 with Hull City at Griffin Park.

Ollie Watkins equalised for the hosts, after Jarrod Bowen had given Grant McCann's side the lead on the day.

The goal was Watkins' second of the season so far, and he'll be hoping to provide Thomas Frank's team with the goals to keep them in the hunt for a top-six finish now that Neal Maupay has left the club.

But is Watkins the man to fill the sizeable void left by Neal Maupay for Brentford this season?

We look into his statistics from the draw with Hull at the weekend in more detail in our latest FLW Spotlight.

Watkins started the game up-front, but struggled to make a notable impact throughout the 90, although he did get himself on the scoresheet.

The 23-year-old is still adjusting to being utilised as a striker, and the Griffin Park faithful will have to remain patient for the time being as he looks to settle into his new role in the Brentford team.

He attempted four shots in total, with half of them being on target in the game, which doesn't make for the best of reading for a striker.

His first shot on goal resulted in a breakthrough as he poked home from Sergi Canos' pass to equalise, although Brentford were unable to find the winner on the day.

But he had another clearcut chance late on as his well-struck volley was smartly saved by Hull goalkeeper, George Long.

If Watkins wants to establish himself as a striker in this Brentford team, then he'll have to take the chances that come his way, especially when he has such a sizeable void to fill after Neal Maupay departed during the summer.

He didn't win a single aerial duel against Hull, although he could be forgiven as he came up against the towering presences of Jordy de Wijs and Reece Burke at Griffin Park.

But as previously mentioned, Watkins will have to improve on this, otherwise he'll struggle to make his mark on games in the Championship this season.

The forward had seven touches in the opposition box, in a game where Brentford struggled to find their best form in front of goal.

There's no doubting that it's going to be tough for any player to replace Neal Maupay in attack, with the striker scoring 25 league goals for the Bees last term.

Only time will tell as to whether Watkins will be the ideal replacement for Maupay, but he'll have to prove himself to the Brentford supporters sooner rather than later that he can fill that void.

He'll be hoping that he can add to his goal tally when Brentford are next in action against Leeds in midweek, in what will be their toughest test of the season so far at Elland Road.
