In the summer, Newcastle United were mulling over a move for talented midfielder Alan Judge.

However, the Magpies eventually dropped their interest in the Republic of Ireland international over fitness concerns.

Alan Judge suffered a horrific double leg break towards the back end of the 2015/16 season and he has not played since then, although he is starting to finally complete his recovery.

This has prompted Newcastle to consider a January move for Judge but this time they have competition.

Not only are Brighton and Hove Albion competing with Newcastle for the top spot in the Championship, they are also looking to nip ahead of them in the race for Alan Judge.

With Judge looking likely to make a comeback by the end of January, his signing could be a very shrewd piece of business by whoever snaps him up.

Brentford seem resigned to losing him and here are 2 reasons why Newcastle must act quickly to beat Brighton to this deal.
