Sheffield United will look to end their six-year association with League One this season by finally clinching promotion back to the Championship.

The Blades are currently top of the third tier and their supporters have been delighted with some of the football played by their team so far during the current campaign.

Sheffield-born boss Chris Wilder has revived the fortunes of the South Yorkshire-based club and he will be hoping to write his name into Sheffield United folklore by overseeing a famous promotion.

Each side that holds a position in the higher echelons of the division will be hoping to strengthen their squads this month ready for one final push, with the Blades not likely to be an exception.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke looks at two quick-fire loans that Sheffield United should look to tie-up in the next week.

Anel Ahmedhodzic

The Swedish central defender is one of the brightest prospects in the Nottingham Forest youth academy, with the 17-year-old featuring in the first-team squad on occasions this season.

The towering defender would complement Sheffield United’s current defenders impeccably well, whilst also allowing him to gain experience on loan at a league club currently flying in the league.

Nick Blackman

The Derby County striker hasn’t really featured too often for the Rams this season and has fallen way down the pecking order since the arrival of Steve McClaren as manager.

Blackman scored 14 goals for the club during a six-month spell in South Yorkshire back in 2012 and he would represent a real coup for a club in League One.

The striker’s days at Derby look to be numbered and with Billy Sharp the only striker scoring frequently at Sheffield United, the arrival of another talisman could be a welcome addition to the squad.

Sheffield United fans, would you welcome these two players to the club? Who else should the club look to target on loan? Let us know in the comments below!!!
