Rotherham United have had a quite dismal campaign so far and find themselves sitting rock bottom of the Sky Bet Championship.

However, the spirits around the club where lifted somewhat on Saturday as the Millers claimed a surprise 2-1 victory over promotion chasing Norwich City.

Caretaker boss Paul Warne will be keen to see his side continue in the same vein this weekend as they take on pace setters Newcastle United at St James Park.

The Millers are yet to make a signing so far this window, but it would be of no surprise if Warne was keen to get a fresh face in before travelling north to Newcastle.

This article is going to take a look at TWO quick fire loan deals the club could look to tie up this week.....

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

The first loan deal that The Millers could look to potentially tie up this week to help boost their midfield numbers is for Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

19-year-old midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles is rated very highly by all down at the Emirates Stadium, and has already played 8 times for the club’s senior team, with 2 of those appearances coming in the Premier League.

AdTech Ad AdTech Ad The young man spent last year gaining first team experience on loan at Ipswich Town where he made over 30 appearances, scoring twice in the process.

He was not fazed by the physical, fast-paced nature of the Championship and impressed many onlookers with his performances.

Maitland-Niles plays predominantly as a winger but can also play in the centre of midfield as well as in a number 10 role behind the striker.

Toumani Diagouraga

Diagouraga has been rumoured to be making the switch to the New York Stadium from Elland Road this month, and this is certainly a deal that caretaker boss Paul Warne should look to tie up this week.

The midfield man has been out of favour since the arrival of Garry Monk at Elland Road, and it appears it would be best for both parties if the Frenchman was to depart the club this month.

Diagouraga is a player with plenty of experience, he has represented the likes of Watford, Swindon Town, Peterborough United and also Brentford for whom he made over 200 appearances during a stay which spanned 7 seasons.

The Millers have been sorely lacking a physical, commanding presence in midfield so far this season, and Paul Warne clearly sees Diagouraga as someone who could bring that to the team.
