Barnsley are currently loving life in their first season back in England's second tier, and can be found sitting comfortably in 10th place in the Sky Bet Championship table.

The club currently sit seven points behind Sheffield Wednesday who occupy the final play-off spot, leading many fans to believe that a play-off spot could potentially be within their reach this season.

However, after the loss of star man Sam Winnall already this month, a play-off spot is now looking like a much tougher proposition.

Tykes fans will be desperate for the window to close as numerous clubs continue to circle the likes of Conor Hourihane and James Bree.

Manager Paul Heckinbottom will no doubt be keen to bolster his squad this month and could look to secure these TWO quick-fire loan deals this week...

Chuba Akpom

Young front man Chuba Akpom is someone who Barnsley could look to pluck on loan from Arsenal this month to act as a temporary replacement for Sam Winnall, who departed Oakwell earlier this month for South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Akpom is no stranger to the Championship after spending the whole of last season on loan at Hull City, for whom he made a total of 42 appearances, scoring 7 goals in the process.

He has also previously spent time on loan with Nottingham Forest as well as Coventry City and Brentford in League One.

The talented striker is extremely comfortable in possession and is someone who would fit into this current Barnsley side seamlessly.

Reece Oxford

Barnsley are yet to replace commanding centre back Alfie Mawson after he departed for Premier League outfit Swansea in the summer, and may be potentially in the market for a new centre half throughout the current transfer window.

One central defender that the club could look to bring in is highly rated West Ham youngster Reece Oxford.

Oxford burst onto the scene on the opening day of last season when he became the youngest ever Premier League starter in West Ham’s clash away at Arsenal.

AdTech Ad Oxford played 79 minutes and put in a man of the match performance as West Ham ran out 2-0 winners at the Emirates Stadium.
