Leeds United could be set to add another name to their squad before the transfer window shuts, with Alfonso Pedraza of Villarreal heavily linked with a move to Elland Road.

20-year-old Pedraza will be hoping to impress during his time in England, and the pacey winger - who can also play up front - will no doubt be keen to work hard under Garry Monk and help Leeds to promotion.

Following the weekends loss to Sutton United, Leeds need to bounce back quickly on all fronts, and the signing of Pedraza might go some way to easing the pain of such a terrible loss in the FA Cup.

Leeds have an excellent squad more than capable of cementing a playoff place this term, so the addition of Pedraza should help them along even further. However, there are always ups and downs to making new signings.

With that in mind, we take a look at TWO pros, and TWO cons to Leeds United signing Alfonso Pedraza...

Pro 1 - A fresh face

Leeds are having a good season, but there is always a risk of seeing your squad go stale at this point of the new season.

The addition of Pedraza should give Monk and his squad fresh impetus, with players knowing they need to keep performing in order to keep their place in the team.

On the flip side of this, Leeds will have a quality player on their hands to come in and do the business should any of the current eleven not be performing.

Con 1 - Lack of experience

Pedraza is only 20-years-old and has a distinct lack of experience at first team level which could hinder his progress at Elland Road.

The Championship is one of the toughest leagues in the world in terms of competitiveness, and this could be a real test of resolve for the young winger.

Pro 2 - An unknown quantity

If there is one thing Pedraza will bring, it is an element of the unknown.

Garry Monk will know exactly what type of player he is getting, with the Leeds boss no doubt having done his homework on the player. However, for the rest of the Championship, he will be an unknown, and this could well play into his favour.

Expect Pedraza to be full of confidence in his first few games as he looks to cause Championship defences plenty of trouble.

Con 2 - Is he any better than what they already have?

Only Garry Monk will know, and time will tell, but is Pedraza going to be any better than those Leeds already have?

The club have also just allowed Alex Mowatt to leave, another solid Championship player, and it will be interesting to see what Pedraza brings to the table.

If he doesn't get off to a good start, Leeds fans could soon wonder what the point in the signing was, and this could be a major dent in his spell at Leeds.
