Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack is being widely linked with a move away from Villa Park after a bust up with Steve Bruce - in which the Villa boss described the Scotsman as "unfit".

This has lead to McCormack being ordered to train with the under-23 side.

Other rumours have suggested that Ross McCormack has been skipping training sessions this season and Bruce is not impressed with his bad attitude.

When the 30-year-old arrived in the summer from Fulham in a deal worth about £12m, Aston Villa fans were very excited as he had scored for fun at Cardiff, Leeds and Fulham before the move.

However, he has failed to make an impact in B6 and could be set for a premature January exit - just half a season after making a big money switch to the West Midlands.

With plenty of clubs bound to be circling around McCormack and monitoring his situation, here are 2 pros and 2 cons to Aston Villa selling him this window.

PRO - Funds a move for another striker

Aston Villa sold Rudy Gestede to Middlesbrough earlier in the window and strike duo Jordan Ayew and Jonathan Kodjia are at the African Cup of Nations.

If Villa can shift McCormack, then they can bring in a better striker to support Gabby Agbonlahor up top.

The Villains were previously linked with Jordan Rhodes although that seems to have died down but they could still swoop for Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

CON - Strengthens rivals

The Daily Mail is reporting that Sheffield Wednesday, Derby and Fulham all want Ross McCormack.

Aston Villa still harbour ambitions of achieving a play-off spot but they sit 9 points behind sixth place at the moment.

Sheffield Wednesday are 6th, Derby are 7th and Fulham are 9th - do Aston Villa really want to sell a prolific Championship goal scorer to a play-off rival?

PRO - Negative attitude affects players

Steve Bruce has unashamedly lambasted McCormack's attitude after the Scotsman missed a few training sessions and has looked unfit.

This negative attitude is contagious and is likely to affect the rest of his squad.

He has been ordered to train with the under-23 side but do they really want a negative influence like McCormack rubbing off on their young stars - especially after the trouble they've had from teenager Rushian Hepburn-Murphy.

CON - He could still come good

Things have not worked out for McCormack at Villa but he is only six months into his career in the Midlands.

He scored prolifically for Cardiff, Leeds and Fulham so we all know he has the ability to come good.

If Aston Villa show him a little more faith, then he could rediscover his scoring touch and start performing well again.
