Homesick Sebastian Polter is closing in on a return to Germany with a medical at FC Union Berlin reportedly set to take place.

The big German forward has not been prolific during his time at Loftus Road but he will still leave a gap which needs to be plugged.

Queens Park Rangers have picked up of late but they still could be dragged into a relegation battle if they are not careful.

They currently sit in 17th place but are just 5 points clear of the drop zone so a bad run of form could see them dragged down into a scrap at the bottom.

That's why a striker must be prioritised in this window.

Polter is set to leave and Washington has been abysmal, leaving Sylla as the only viable option up front.

Here are 2 Championship strikers who Ian Holloway should take a look at this January.

Sam Winnall

Barnsley hit man Sam Winnall has 11 goals in 22 league appearances this season, following his haul of 23 in League One last year.

The 25-year-old's contract is set to expire in the summer, though, so he might be available for as little as £3m.

Winnall would be a fantastic addition at QPR because he knows where the net is and has proved it in the football league.

Daryl Murphy

Newcastle's forgotten man Daryl Murphy popped up with a goal in the FA Cup third round against Birmingham.

The veteran striker joined in the summer from Ipswich but finds himself behind Dwight Gayle, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez in the pecking order.

His haul of 27 goals made him top scorer in the 2014/15 Championship season and QPR could benefit from his experience and goalscoring ability.
