Wigan Athletic fought off serious competition from a number of teams to complete a deal to sign Jamal Lowe from Portsmouth in the summer transfer window.

Lowe was hugely impressive for Pompey in the 2018/19 season, as he scored 17 goals in all competitions to keep them in the hunt for promotion into the Championship.

Although Kenny Jackett's side fell short in their promotion bid, Lowe's performances didn't go unnoticed, and plenty of Wigan fans were delighted to see him arrive ahead of this year's league campaign.

But how has Lowe performed so far for Paul Cook's side?

In our latest FLW Spotlight, we look into Lowe's statistics so far for Wigan in more detail.

Lowe's start to life with Wigan might not be what he first hoped for this season, but the ()-year-old will have to be given time to adjust to his new surroundings.

The 25-year-old is yet to score for Paul Cook's side, which will be a slight concern, especially after he set the bar so high in terms of his record in front of goal last season for Portsmouth.

He netted 17 goals for Pompey as they narrowly missed out on promotion back into the Championship, after a defeat to Sunderland in their play-off semi-final.

But Lowe is showing positive signs in other areas of the pitch, as he has made 13 progressive runs, which shows that he's not short of confidence when in possession of the ball.

The forward has won 112 offensive duels which will be something he'll be looking to build on as the season progresses, with Wigan hoping to improve on their 18th place finish in the Championship last term.

Lowe has made one assist so far for the Latics, with Wigan only having scored nine goals so far in this year's league campaign.

Only Barnsley (8) have scored less than Cook's side, and he'll be hoping that his side can find their form in front of goal as the season heads towards the festive period.

Lowe has attempted nine shots in total since joining Wigan, and will be hoping that he can score his first goal for the Latics, as they look to fire themselves up the Championship table at the earliest of opportunities.

So, there are promising signs from Wigan's summer signing, and they'll be hoping that he can build on some impressive performances to date as the season progresses.
