Brentford star Ollie Watkins is reportedly a shock target for Premier League giants Chelsea, with the Daily Star stating that the Blues are said to view the 24-year-old as something of a long-term target.

The former Exeter City man has been in fine form for the Bees since making the transition from left wing to up front, notching an impressive tally of 18 goals in 28 Championship outings.

Watkins has fast developed into one of the most talked about players outside of England's top division, with the player having been consistently linked with a move away from Griffin Park after his eye catching performances for Thomas Frank's side.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has been extremely vocal over his desire to bring in an additional striker to Stamford Bridge during the current window, and perhaps the 24-year-old could well fit the bill for the Champions League chasers.

Here, we take a look at ONE winner and ONE loser at Brentford if the club allows Ollie Watkins to depart....

Winner

Halil Dervisoglu

The young Dutchman would certainly be the main benefactor of Watkins making an exit from Griffin Park this month as it would in theory provide the 20-year-old with an increased level of game time than he has been afforded so far by Frank.

A January arrival from Sparta Rotterdam, Dervisoglu will be seeking to establish himself as a regular starter for the Championship promotion chasers as we head into the second half of the season.

His pace and low centre of gravity mean that he will add an extra edge to the Bees attack, with Watkins in comparison preferring to have the ball played into his feet rather than in behind the opposition backline.

Dervisoglu would certainly be in prime position to become the club's first choice striker if Watkins were to depart, with Messrs Nikos Karelis and Marcus Forss both being sidelined by injury respectively.

Loser

Said Benrahma

The Algerian winger would no doubt feel the negative effects of Watkins potential departure, with the tricky forward having built up a strong on pitch relationship with his teammate as part of one of the most feared attacking tridents in the division.

The loss of Watkins would in theory disrupt the inter play that has been a focal point for many a Brentford attack this campaign, potentially putting an end to their astonishing form as a whole.

A departure for the former Exeter man would also put a lot more pressure on the shoulders of Benrahma and his fellow winger Bryan Mbeumo, with both players having provided respectable goal contributions aside from Watkins this term.

Benrahma is also of great interest to many a club at present and a departure for his teammate could well cause the Algerian to consider his own future at the west London club after a series of bright performances from the 24-year-old winger.
